Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI diagnosis work?

RepairIQ uses a large language model trained on home repair knowledge, symptom patterns, and appliance failure data. When you describe your issue, it analyzes the key symptoms and returns up to 5 of the most statistically probable causes ranked by likelihood. Each result includes a DIY cost range, a Pro cost range (parts + labor), a YouTube search link for that specific failure mode, and a copyable contractor script you can read to a technician on the phone.

What types of home issues can RepairIQ diagnose?

RepairIQ covers 50+ home system categories including plumbing (toilets, faucets, water heaters, pipes), electrical (breakers, outlets, light fixtures), HVAC (furnaces, AC units, thermostats, ductwork), kitchen appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, microwaves), laundry appliances (washers, dryers), and general structural issues (doors, windows, roofing, gutters). You can describe the issue by text, dictate it by voice, or attach a photo for image-informed diagnosis.

How many free diagnoses do I get?

RepairIQ includes 3 free diagnoses to get you started. After that you have three options: a single diagnosis for $1.99 (one-time, no subscription), a monthly plan at $3.99/month, or an annual plan at $19.99/year — all with unlimited diagnoses on the recurring plans. Your free usage count is tracked locally on your device; no account is required.

How accurate is RepairIQ?

RepairIQ is designed to surface the most common and likely causes for a given set of symptoms — which covers the vast majority of real-world cases. However, no AI system can guarantee 100% accuracy for every situation. Always use judgment, especially for safety-critical systems like gas lines, main electrical panels, or structural supports. RepairIQ is an informational tool, not a substitute for a licensed professional's on-site assessment.

Does RepairIQ work offline?

Generating new diagnoses requires an internet connection to process your description. However, your diagnosis history (stored locally on your device) is accessible offline so you can review past results without connectivity.

Is my data private? Do you collect personal information?

RepairIQ is designed with privacy in mind. Your diagnosis usage count is stored locally on your device. We do not collect names, email addresses, device identifiers, or any personally identifiable information. Diagnosis queries are processed to generate results but are not tied to your identity. See our full Privacy Policy for details.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. RepairIQ subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store. You can cancel at any time via Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, in line with Apple's standard policies.
